Ceredigion Birding Breaks

News - Springwatch Returns.

The BBC’s flagship natural history programme “Springwatch” will be broadcast from RSPB Ynys-hir again this year. Situated in north Ceredigion the reserve is practically in my back-yard. Now Kate, Chris, Martin and the rest of the Springwatch team will be coming to show the rest of Britain how special it is.

I’ve spent many hours exploring Ynys-hir and know the place very well.

I would like to show you some of the reserve’s regular breeding species – Pied and Spotted Flycatchers, Redstart, Wood Warbler to name a few – and let you soak up the atmosphere of tranquillity in this stunning wildlife refuge.

Wonderful as it is, Ynys-hir is by no means the only place of interest to birdwatchers here in Ceredigion – take a look at my Birding Locations page.

News – The Dyfi Osprey Project gears up for the return of our breeding pair.

In 2011 a pair of Ospreys bred on the Dyfi Estuary for the first time in hundreds of years.
We have everything crossed hoping that the birds will return and set up home with us again this year.
The Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust have created the Dyfi Osprey Project – just 2 miles from my house – and worked tirelessly towards providing the birds with exactly the right conditions to breed and raise young. There are marvellous views of the nest from a specially constructed hide and stunning cctv close-ups of the birds on their nest.

Come and let me show you some of the wonderful scenery and wildlife in this part of Wales.
